World Cup 2026 Uzbekistan vs Portugal

Uzbekistan vs Portugal Best Odds

Uzbekistan meet Portugal at NRG Stadium in Houston, with kickoff at 19:00 CAT on Tuesday night in this Group K matchday two fixture. Uzbekistan arrive on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Colombia in their first ever World Cup match, while Portugal were held to a 1-1 draw by DR Congo and badly need a win to take control of the group. Uzbekistan vs Portugal Analysis

Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan are at their first World Cup and showed flashes of quality against Colombia, with Abbosbek Fayzullaev scoring their first ever World Cup finals goal before the Colombians pulled clear to win 3-1. In my opinion they will set up to contain rather than chase the game here, leaning on the defensive discipline of Manchester City youngster Abdukodir Khusanov and the experience of Rustam Ashurmatov at the back. Captain Eldor Shomurodov, their all-time leading scorer, gives them a counter punch, but I expect them to spend long spells without the ball against a far stronger side. With nothing on the board after one game, they cannot afford a heavy defeat that wrecks their goal difference.

Predicted Lineup: Yusupov; Khusanov, Ashurmatov, Abdullaev; Karimov, Mozgovoy, Shukurov, Nasrullaev; Fayzullaev, Shomurodov, Urunov.

Portugal

Portugal were frustrated in their opener, dominating possession but conceding a Yoane Wissa header to draw 1-1 with DR Congo, with Joao Neves their early scorer. Roberto Martinez has a fully loaded 26-man squad available and no fresh injury or suspension concerns, so I expect a sharper, more clinical performance here. Cristiano Ronaldo is set to keep his place despite the criticism after the draw, with Bruno Fernandes and Vitinha pulling the strings in midfield and Pedro Neto stretching their opposition out wide. A win lifts Portugal back into control of Group K, and I think the gulf in class will tell against a debutant side they should comfortably outscore.

Predicted Lineup: Costa; Cancelo, Araujo, Veiga, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha; Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Neto; Ronaldo.

Uzbekistan vs Portugal Prediction

Portugal carry far too much quality across the pitch and should be stung into a response after dropping points against DR Congo. I expect them to dominate possession and break down a deep Uzbek block, with their attacking depth eventually overwhelming a side playing their first ever World Cup. My forecast: Uzbekistan 0 Portugal 3.

Uzbekistan vs Portugal Best Bet

BTTS: No (1.59)

My read on this is that Uzbekistan will sit deep and prioritise damage limitation rather than committing bodies forward, which makes their goal threat limited against a solid Portugal back line. Portugal will want to settle nerves at the back after conceding to DR Congo, and I am backing them to shut out a debutant attack that managed just one goal against Colombia. BTTS: No at 1.59 looks the standout value to me.
