World Cup 2026 France vs Spain

France vs Spain Best Odds

France and Spain meet at Dallas Stadium in the first semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with kickoff at 21:00 CAT on Tuesday. Didier Deschamps' side have not conceded a goal in the knockout rounds and lean on Kylian Mbappe, this tournament's leading scorer, while Spain arrive as reigning European champions with the most possession heavy attack left in the competition. BettingTop10 South Africa expects this to be the tightest semi-final of the two. For all our World Cup betting tips, head to our dedicated section.

France vs Spain Analysis

France

France have been ruthless and controlled in this tournament, topping their group with a perfect record and reaching the last four without conceding a knockout goal after wins over Sweden, Paraguay and Morocco. Mbappe has been unstoppable with eight goals in six matches, and in my opinion Deschamps will again set up to strike on the counter through Mbappe and the in form Michael Olise. There is a slight concern over Mbappe, who was subbed off with a knock against Morocco, while Aurelien Tchouameni has managed a groin problem, though both are expected to be available. My read on this is that France's blend of defensive discipline and lethal transitions makes them a serious threat to any side.

Predicted Lineup: Maignan; Kounde, Saliba, Upamecano, Digne; Kone, Rabiot; Dembele, Olise, Doue; Mbappe.

Spain

Spain remain the great entertainers, topping their group before edging past Austria, Portugal and Belgium to reach the semi-finals, with Mikel Merino producing decisive late goals off the bench. Luis de la Fuente's side dominate possession through Pedri and Rodri and stretch defences with the electric Lamine Yamal, who has quickly become a regular starter. Nico Williams is fit again but is expected to start on the bench, with Alex Baena keeping his place in the front line. From my point of view Spain's technical superiority in midfield is their greatest weapon, but they can be exposed by pace in behind, which is exactly what France carry.

Predicted Lineup: Simon; Porro, Cubarsi, Laporte, Cucurella; Rodri, Pedri; Yamal, Olmo, Baena; Oyarzabal

France vs Spain Prediction

This has the makings of a tight, tactical semi-final between two sides who know each other well, and I expect France's defensive solidity to be the difference. Spain will see plenty of the ball, but France have not conceded in the knockouts and carry a ruthless edge in transition through Mbappe. I can see this being settled by a single moment of quality. My forecast: France 1 Spain 0.

BTTS: No (2.16)

I am backing BTTS No at 2.16 and my read on this is that France's knockout clean sheets tell the real story of this team. Deschamps has built a side that defends as a unit and gives strikers almost nothing, and I expect them to keep Spain at arm's length. With France likely to sit in and counter, I fancy at least one of these sides to be shut out.
