World Cup 2026 Switzerland vs Colombia

Switzerland vs Colombia Best Odds

Switzerland face Colombia at BC Place in Vancouver on Tuesday, kickoff 22:00 CAT, in the final last 16 tie with a quarter final place at stake. Murat Yakin's Swiss side won all three group games and beat Algeria to reach this stage, scoring freely along the way. Colombia have been miserly at the back, topping their group and edging Ghana, and they arrive as slight favourites. BettingTop10 South Africa has had this tie on the radar since the group stage wrapped up. For all our World Cup betting tips, head to our dedicated section.

Switzerland vs Colombia Analysis

Switzerland

Switzerland have been one of the surprise packages of the tournament, winning three matches in a row for the first time at a World Cup and scoring ten goals across four games. Johan Manzambi has been the breakout star, while the experience of Granit Xhaka and Manuel Akanji gives the side a strong spine. Yakin has a fully fit squad to choose from, which is a real advantage at this stage. In my opinion Switzerland will not sit back, but they may find Colombia a much tougher defensive nut to crack than anything they have faced so far.

Predicted Lineup: Kobel; Zakaria, Akanji, Elvedi, Rodriguez; Freuler, Xhaka; Ndoye, Manzambi, Vargas; Embolo.

Colombia

Colombia have built their run on a mean defence, keeping three clean sheets in four matches and winning their knockout tie against Ghana by a single goal. The big blow is the loss of striker Jhon Cordoba, who suffered an adductor tear against Ghana and is out for the rest of the tournament, so Luis Suarez is likely to lead the line. Luis Diaz and James Rodriguez remain the key creators, with Diaz a constant threat on the left, though Jhon Arias and Richard Rios are both one booking from a suspension. My read on this is that Colombia are well-drilled and dangerous on the counter, and their defensive solidity makes them awkward opponents.

Predicted Lineup: Vargas; Munoz, Sanchez, Lucumi, Mojica; Lerma; Puerta, Arias; Rodriguez, Diaz, Suarez.

Switzerland vs Colombia Prediction

Colombia's defensive record and their habit of winning tight games point to a cagey, low scoring contest rather than the open game Switzerland might want. I expect Colombia to edge it with a single goal and keep a clean sheet on the counter. My forecast: Switzerland 0 Colombia 1.

Switzerland vs Colombia Best Bet

Under 2.5 Goals (1.58)

Colombia have kept three clean sheets in four matches and both of their most recent wins came by a single goal. With their defence in fine shape and Switzerland facing a far stiffer test than in the group stage, I am backing under 2.5 goals at 1.58.
