Germany take on Ivory Coast at BMO Field in Toronto on Saturday, June 20, with kickoff at 22:00 CAT. Germany were sensational in their opener, scoring seven against Curacao, and in my opinion Nagelsmann's side look the most complete attacking unit in this group. Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala are operating at a level few defences can contain, and Kai Havertz gives them a focal point up front. Manuel Neuer remains the first choice in goal and the back line of Kimmich, Tah, Schlotterbeck and Brown looks settled, with no fresh injury concerns reported this week. I expect Germany to attack from the first whistle and a quick start would put them firmly in control of the group.

Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast got their campaign off to the perfect start with a hard fought win over Ecuador, and my read on Emerse Fae's side is that they are well organised and dangerous on the break. Amad Diallo was a standout once he entered the game early in the second half and his pace in transition could trouble a Germany defence that likes to push high. Franck Kessie gives them physical control in midfield, while Elye Wahi offers a genuine threat up front. They will need to defend deep and take their moments, because the gap in attacking quality is significant.

Predicted Lineup: Fofana; Doue, Singo, Agbadou, Konan; Pepe, Kessie, Fofana, Diomande; Wahi, Toure

Germany have far too much firepower to be kept quiet in this one, and I expect Wirtz and Musiala to find the openings they need. Ivory Coast are capable of a goal on the counter through Diallo, but Germany should have the game under control by the hour mark. My forecast: Germany 3 Ivory Coast 1.

I am backing Over 2.5 Goals and my read on this is that Germany simply do not do low scoring matches under Nagelsmann right now. They put seven past Curacao and have the creativity to break down a deep block, while Ivory Coast carry enough threat to add to the total. At 1.66 the value is there in a match including a Germany side that is scoring for fun.
